PFL CHALLENGER SERIES WEEK 4 BOSTON SALMON EARNS FEATHERWEIGHT CONTRACT FOR 2022 REGULAR SEASON

March 11, 2022 – The Professional Fighters League Challenger Series continued tonight at Universal Studios where the Featherweights presented an action packed night of fights with Boston Salmon earning a PFL contract. Judges Randy Couture, Vitor Belfort, and Nick Mangold were in agreement with the fan vote. In the end, Salmon became the fifth PFL Challenger Series fighter to earn his place in the league, joining Week 3 Women’s Lightweight fighter Martina Jindrova, Week 2 Welterweight fighters Jarrah Al-Silawi and Chris Mixan, as well as Week 1 Light Heavyweight winner Bruce Souto.
 
“Boom Boom” Salmon stopped Do Gyeom Lee at the end of the second round. The hard-charging Salmon forced Lee’s corner to end the contest and give Salmon his fifth consecutive knockout and improve to 8-3-0. 
 
In further action, Reinaldo Ekson defeated Mike Barnett via unanimous decision. Ekson, a veteran fighter, and former EFC Featherweight Champion proved to be too much for Barnett. After tonight’s win Ekson’s record stands at 18-5-0 while riding a four fight win streak. 
 
Edwin Cooper Jr. defeated Troy Lamson by unanimous decision. In a fight that saw back and forth action, the former University of Iowa wrestling standout Cooper Jr. improved his record to 6-1-0 and notched his fourth consecutive victory.

The PFL Challenger Series action returns to Universal Studios next Friday night, March 18, with the Lightweight division matchups.
