Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today unveiled its partnership with Formula E Operations Ltd. as the Official Race Partner for the inaugural Tokyo E-Prix. This all-electric race is a key component of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and is set to take place on March 30.
The 2024 Tokyo E-Prix will showcase an impressive 18-turn, 2.58 km street circuit encircling Tokyo Big Sight, just moments away from downtown Tokyo. Featuring three extensive straights, a sequence of challenging technical bends, and high-speed sections, the track promises an unparalleled fan experience set against Tokyo’s bustling metropolitan backdrop.
This collaboration for the groundbreaking race signifies a strategic expansion of Nissan’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, highlighting its advancements in advanced material utilization, recycling technologies, and social initiatives. It perfectly aligns with Formula E’s mission to propel the adoption and advancement of electric vehicles.
Nissan made its debut in the all-electric series in Season 5, marking the first entry by a Japanese manufacturer into the championship. Through its official race partnership, Nissan aims to enhance its position in EV performance both on and off the track by increasing brand awareness.
Moreover, Nissan supplies its powertrain to the customer team NEOM McLaren Formula E Team, fostering further development and experimentation with cutting-edge software and engineering.
Tommaso Volpe, Managing Director and Team Principal of the Nissan Formula E Team, expressed, “Nissan is thrilled to collaborate with Formula E for the historic inaugural Tokyo E-Prix. This partnership transcends mere racing; it’s a celebration of innovation and sustainability, echoing our vision for a cleaner, more exhilarating future. The event will feature an array of fan-centric activities, including an immersive Formula E Zone, a Gaming Arena equipped with simulators, E-Karting for children, and an Electric Garden featuring educational exhibits on EV technology. Formula E will unveil further details on the podium event and performances from local and international artists at the 2024 Tokyo E-Prix.
