PG-1 FILMS: “Leave It All Behind” Awards Ceremony Celebrates Cinematic Moto-Explorations by Yamaha Motor Philippines

Yamaha Motor Philippines proudly presents its inaugural PG-1 Film Competition, celebrating a vibrant array of moto-explorations. Whether seeking breathtaking landscapes or navigating unpaved paths beyond the city limits, riding the PG-1 instills a sense of freedom and liberation. This campaign, titled “Leave It All Behind,” empowers filmmakers to craft narratives that resonate with the spirit of adventure. Launched in August, the competition culminates in October with an exclusive outdoor cinema event in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, where the best film will be awarded.

At the heart of this initiative lies the art of storytelling, where filmmaking meets the exhilarating world of motorcycle riding. These journeys are filled with encounters that evoke personal reflections, allowing filmmakers to share their experiences and emotions. Participants in the competition include Motorcycle Cinema, Aaron Palabyab, El Clasico Moto, Moto Stories PH, Mel Cortez, and Joshua Chua. Each filmmaker was challenged to create a short film (3 minutes and 30 seconds) and a corresponding movie poster, all centered around the theme of freedom and liberation associated with the PG-1, emphasizing the message to “Leave It All Behind.”

The six entries present diverse narratives of exploration. One film shares a bittersweet story of losing oneself in the pursuit of success, while another invites viewers to reflect on their choices in seeking happiness and contentment. A heartfelt entry explores the realization that true freedom comes not from escape, but from confronting one’s inner struggles. Collectively, the competition highlights how Filipinos intertwine their passion for filmmaking with the liberating joy of motorcycle riding.

The Film Awarding: An Outdoor Cinema Experience!

The awarding ceremony promises to enhance the outdoor cinema experience. In the heart of Bonifacio Global City, the PG-1 Film Awarding transforms the park into a vibrant cinematic ground. The event features the introduction of Yamaha Motor Philippines’ new president, Mr. Katsuya “Kyle” Iida, in front of an audience of around a hundred invitees, including media partners, motovloggers, film directors, photographers, and PG-1 owners.

The conclusion of this first-ever film competition marks a new chapter for Yamaha Motor Philippines. The top four films, selected by YMPH and a panel of esteemed judges comprising renowned international TVC/Film directors and commercial photographers, are as follows:

Explorers Choice Award: PADABA by Mel Cortez
Top Film Poster: THE LOST SPARK by Joshua Chua
Best Cinematography: BREAK FREE by Motorcycle Cinema
Best Film: PADABA by Mel Cortez

The award for Best Film includes a cash prize of Php 500,000 and accessories, while all filmmakers, regardless of their standings, will receive a PG-1 motorcycle from Yamaha.

This film competition encapsulates the essence of freedom that the PG-1 represents, paving the way for creative collaborations and limitless opportunities to tell unique exploration stories with Yamaha.
