Transportation is just as important as technology in the everyday operations of Lalamove, the leading intracity delivery platform in Asia.
While its digital portals enable their services to be easily accessed by customers via mobile phones or PCs, it is the drivers, who receive and deliver the packages and those who interact with clients, who are considered the vital forces of Lalamove’s everyday operations. Lalamove’s riders and drivers are at the forefront of Lalamove’s success in all of its markets.
Lalamove trains drivers in their daily seminar held at their Makati office before they can hit the streets. The riders are cherry picked so that Lalamove customers can expect to receive the best possible service available. There are many criteria that Lalamove uses to screen the quality of its riders and their vehicles. One of these is the brand of the vehicle they use. These motorcycles should possess a 100 cc engine and should have been manufactured not earlier than 2010. Among the accepted brands are Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Motorstar, SYM and Kymco.
Two of its star drivers, Adrian Nery, who drives a Honda XRM 125cc, and Ermilando Negrito, who uses a Honda Wave 110cc, also went through the Company’s training before they could be deployed. Here, they were given a refresher course on the need to observe local regulations like respecting road speed limits. Drivers are also taught how to interact with customers cheerfully and respectfully and act as the face of Lalamove. According to Nery, the training was rather easy because he already worked as a rider for an online grocery delivery and a fastfood chain.
As much as riders help Lalamove fulfill their service promise, the Company gives back by ensuring they are paid accordingly. According to Nery: “This is way better than minimum wage.
Both riders are very happy to be part of Lalamove: Nery explained “Sobrang saya ko po, nagsimula ako ‘nung December at malaki ang naitulong nitong pang pinansyal sa aking pamilya. Nag e-enjoy din po ako dahil ang dami ng nagtitiwala sa akin.”
With Lalamove, drivers are well taken cared of. They are treated, more than just contractors- but as partners who have helped Lalamove fulfill their promise of safe and fast deliveries, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
