The Next Generation Tamaraw is a key milestone in TMP’s commitment to empowering Filipinos and supporting nation-building. Built on Toyota’s global IMV platform, it retains the same DNA as the Tamaraw of the 1990s and early 2000s but now features updated technology and design to meet current market demands. TMP President Masando Hashimoto emphasized the company’s customer-focused approach, stating that the feedback gathered from small and medium business owners helped shape the development of the new model.

Available in both diesel and gas variants, the Next Generation Tamaraw offers multiple body styles to accommodate various passenger and cargo needs. The diesel models are powered by a 2.4L 2GD-FTV engine for heavy-duty tasks, while the gas versions come with a 2.0L 1TR-FE engine. During the launch, several configurations were introduced, including the long wheelbase (LWB) Dropside, Utility Van, and Aluminum Cargo, set for retail in early 2025. Short wheelbase (SWB) variants will follow at a later date.
TMP also showcased special conversions of the Tamaraw, demonstrating its versatility. These included an ambulance, patrol van, refrigerated van, food truck, mobile service vehicle, and camper RV. The possibilities for customization, made possible through Toyota Mobility Solutions Philippines (TMSPH), highlight the vehicle’s adaptability to various business and personal needs. Hashimoto underscored the Tamaraw’s transformative potential with the tagline “Abante, Posible!”
TMP First Vice President Danny Cruz emphasized the company’s dedication to understanding customer mobility challenges, which led to the development of the Tamaraw’s flexible design. In-house conversions, such as the Utility Van, Dropside, and Aluminum Cargo, offer practical solutions for everyday commercial or personal use. For example, the Utility Van’s spacious interior and foldable seats make it ideal for transporting both goods and people, while the Dropside’s large deck allows for easy loading and unloading of cargo.
The Next Generation Tamaraw is competitively priced, starting at PHP 937,000 for the 2.4 Dropside DSL M/T LWB variant, with future gas-powered SWB models expected to be priced below PHP 800,000. Top-of-the-line models like the 2.4 GL Dropside DSL A/T LWB are available at PHP 1,075,000 and come equipped with advanced safety features such as airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD).
