Access Plus Racing Poised to Clinch 2024 PSBK Championship in Season Finale

Access Plus Racing is on the brink of securing the 2024 Philippine Superbike Championship (PSBK) title, needing just one more race win to claim the crown. Timothy Joseph “TJ” Alberto currently holds a 39-point lead and is poised to capture his fourth consecutive Philippine Superbike Rider of the Year title. The season’s climactic showdown is set to take place this weekend at Clark International Speedway (CIS), where TJ aims to seal his victory.

TJ started the season strong, with back-to-back wins at the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC). His younger brother, Troy Alberto, added to the team’s early successes with podium finishes. However, their momentum faced a major setback in the second round when Troy crashed out in Race 1, leading to an injury that would sideline him for the remainder of the season, leaving TJ to race solo.

Despite the challenge, TJ’s determination kept the team competitive, managing to place second in both races to stay in the hunt for the championship. The team bounced back stronger in Round 3, where TJ swept the race weekend at Clark, claiming pole position and two victories on his #77 Ducati Panigale V4. The following rounds saw him continue his dominance, including an impressive wet-weather victory in Race 2.

With 1.5x points up for grabs in the penultimate round, Access Plus Racing focused on closing the performance gap at BRC, historically a challenging track for the team. Their rigorous testing paid off as TJ took two consecutive wins, solidifying his lead and bringing his season win rate to 80%. With a single victory now needed to secure the title, the final race weekend promises an exciting finish.
