Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH), through its flagship shop, Yzone, took a group of big bike patrons up north for a 3-day weekend of fun and recreation. On the first day, a total of twenty four riders set-off from Yzone at the Greenfield District in Mandaluyong City for a leisurely ride to Vigan in Ilocos Sur via NLEX-SCTEX-TPLEX. The group arrived at Hotel Felicidad by mid-afternoon. Everyone had enough time to visit souvenir shops and sample native Ilocano delicacies before retiring to their rooms.
A two-hour ride from the “Heritage City” the following day brought the riders to Laoag Sand Dunes in Ilocos Norte, where a giant off-road playground awaited. Everyone eagerly took turns in driving the Yamaha YXZ 1000R through a course which seemed to mimic a roller coaster ride. A couple of units of Yamaha Serow were available for those would like to test their mettle on the sandy course adjacent to the beach. YMPH also offered their big bikes (YZF-R1, Bolt, Tenere, TMAX, MT-07 and MT-09) for test ride along a concrete path within the vicinity.
Before the day ended, the group went on a short ride to a popular tourist destination, the Paoay Church. Incidentally, PNP Chief General “Bato” was also in the area and he graciously posed with the Yamaha riders in an impromptu photo op. After working out an appetite on the sand dunes, early dinner was served at Herencia Restaurant where the menu included their famous Pinakbet pizza. Dessert included some raffle prizes from Motoworld.

Everyone was up early the next morning, eager to bring home exciting stories from the past couple of days. YMPH made sure that no rider will enter the tollways on an empty stomach lunch stop was at Ruperto’s in Binalonan, Pangasinan. The group made a final gas stop at Caltex Mega station along NLEX before heading on their separate ways.
