BYD Cars Philippines Shatters Records with 8,900% Growth in 2024, Cementing NEV and BEV Leadership

BYD Cars Philippines and ACMobility, the official distributor of BYD vehicles in the country, made history in the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) market by selling an impressive 4,780 units in 2024, representing 82% of the market. This groundbreaking achievement reinforces BYD’s position as the leading player in the country’s NEV and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) segments.

Among these sales, 2,078 units were made up of popular BYD models like the Seagull, Dolphin, Atto 3, T3, Seal, Han, and Tang. With a 69% share of the BEV market, BYD firmly established its dominance in the growing electric vehicle sector in the Philippines.

The star of 2024 was the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i, which sold 2,669 units, making it the brand’s top-seller. Launched in July, the Sealion 6 DM-i quickly became the best-selling model in the combined NEV and Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) categories, capturing a 19% market share by December.

The phenomenal sales growth of BYD’s electric vehicles in the Philippines led to an unprecedented 8,900% increase in overall sales from 2023. BYD also ranked as the 11th best-selling automotive brand in the country, securing a 1.0% market share and outperforming several established brands and other Chinese competitors.

Globally, BYD hit a major milestone in 2024, selling 4.27 million New Energy Vehicles, marking a 41.26% growth from the previous year. This made BYD the world’s top NEV manufacturer, achieving over 4 million units sold for the first time in its history.

BYD’s success in the Philippines was also driven by its expanding dealership network, growing from just two dealerships at the beginning of 2024 to 25 by year-end. With plans to open 52 more dealer locations in 2025, BYD is set to bring its innovative electric mobility solutions to even more Filipinos.
