ACMobility has acquired Evro, the Philippines’ first brand-agnostic roaming electric vehicle (EV) charging network, initially developed by 917Ventures, Globe’s venture builder and tech innovation arm. Vince Yamat, Managing Director of 917Ventures, shared that Evro was created to simplify the charging experience for Filipino EV owners. Since its launch earlier this year, it has made significant strides in promoting sustainable transport. The acquisition by ACMobility ensures Evro’s continued evolution and enhances its role in driving the growth of electric mobility in the Philippines.
ACMobility is focused on advancing electrified mobility and bridging infrastructure gaps that hinder the widespread adoption of EVs. Through the acquisition of Evro, the company aims to address key challenges faced by EV owners, particularly the availability and accessibility of charging stations. This remains a concern for many drivers, especially those traveling outside of urban centers. Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala, CEO of ACMobility, expressed enthusiasm about integrating Evro into the company’s ecosystem, noting that it would help address range anxiety and give EV owners more control over their charging experience. He also acknowledged the importance of collaboration with 917Ventures and Globe Group in building a sustainable future for Filipino motorists.
As an e-Mobility Service Provider (eMSP), Evro consolidates the Philippines’ EV charging network, unifying different brands and Charge-Point Operators (CPOs) to create a more accessible and convenient charging experience. The Evro app, recognized by the Department of Energy (DOE), is designed to help EV drivers easily locate nearby charging stations, monitor their charging status remotely, and pay cashlessly through GCash or credit card. Currently, the app features 33 live charging locations managed by ACMobility in prime areas, including One Bonifacio High Street, Greenbelt 3, and Alabang Town Center.
The growing adoption of electric vehicles in the Philippines is reflected in the industry’s projections, which anticipate a 10% year-on-year increase in EV sales by the end of the year. By 2028, the EV industry aims to sell 2.45 million EVs and operate 65,000 charging stations nationwide. With Evro’s expansion plans and continued development, the future of sustainable transport in the Philippines looks increasingly promising.
The Evro app is now available to download for FREE on the Google Play and Apple Stores. Registration to create an account is also free. For more information, visit Evro.ph.
