Ducati Lenovo Team and World Champion Francesco Bagnaia Sporting Giallo Ducati at the San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix

  • The return of Giallo Ducati experiences its second episode: after the Panigale V4 R of the Aruba.it Racing -Ducati Team in WorldSBK, Francesco Bagnaia’s Desmosedici GP23 also takes to the track at Misano with the special livery

The Sunday of the Ducati Lenovo Team during the weekend of the 2023 San Marino and Riviera di Rimini Grand Prix is tinged with Giallo Ducati: a tribute to the history of the Bologna-based company in the world of racing competition

Starting with the morning warm-up, the Desmosedici GP23 of Francesco Bagnaia – yesterday protagonist of a splendid third place in the Sprint Race less than a week after the incident in Barcelona – will feature a special livery with which it will then enter the grid at 2.00 pm to compete in the 27 laps of the Grand Prix. Furthermore, all members of the Ducati official team in MotoGP will dress in Giallo Ducati and the reigning World Champion will be no exception, wearing racing leathers in the same colour as the bike.

For Ducati, this is the second episode of the project to promote “Giallo Ducati” in racing, after the Panigale V4 R of the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati Team had showcased this colour on the occasion of the Emilia-Romagna Round of WorldSBK, again in the home setting of the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. That race weekend ended successfully for Ducati, with a magnificent trio of victories for Álvaro Bautista (Race 1, Superpole Race and Race 2) and with teammate Michael Ruben Rinaldi joining him on the podium in Race 1 and in the Superpole Race.

Yellow is a colour that has an important tradition in the history of the Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer. The sports bikes in this colour date back to the first half of the ‘70s (750 Sport and 750 SS Desmo of the Spaggiariteam), but it was in the ‘90s that Giallo Ducati, the colour that specifically inspires this special livery, had the moment of greatest popularity with the adoption in the world of racing, which then extended to series production. The memorable models in Giallo Ducati certainly include the Ducati 748, whose racing version took Paolo Casoli to victory in the 1997 edition of the Supersport World Series, without forgetting superbikes such as the 916, 996, 749, 999and other various models in the range.

Andrea Ferraresi, Director of Strategy & Centro Stile Ducati: “Ducati is Red and like all strong brands it identifies a lot with its colour, thanks to which it positions itself in the collective imagination of enthusiasts. The Giallo Ducatithat we see today on the Desmosedici GP23 is a colour that in the past has often been paired with Red, thus becoming part of our identity and our tradition. The decision to race at Misano with the official MotoGP and WorldSBK teamsdressed in this colour is a tribute to our sporting history in the year in which we race as World Champions in the two most important motorcycle championships and it is also a sign of the desire to return to having Giallo Ducati as the second official colour of our Company”.

The livery of the Desmosedici GP23 of the Ducati Lenovo Team was designed by Aldo Drudi starting from the original graphic base. Giallo Ducati becomes the dominant colour of the bike and is criss-crossed by blocks and lines in black, grey and white, creating a combination that celebrates the racing history of the Bologna-based company, but at the same time gives Giallo Ducati a modern identity full of energy.
