Grab Philippines, in partnership with MOVE IT, provided relief packages to over 1,000 families, including drivers and local residents in Cavite and Laguna, following the devastation caused by Tropical Storm Kristine. The relief packages contained essential items such as rice, canned goods, and bathroom supplies to support those affected by the storm.
The two companies acted quickly, mobilizing relief operations in the hardest-hit areas. This effort reflects their ongoing commitment to their driver and delivery-partners through comprehensive calamity-assistance programs, which offer both financial aid and essential in-kind support to those severely impacted by natural disasters. Through the GrabCares and MOVE IT Malasakit programs, affected partners can easily access assistance via a streamlined application process within their driver app.
“During calamities, we, as delivery-partners who were not severely affected, immediately collaborate with Grab to volunteer in relief efforts. Using our community channels, we quickly identify families in urgent need, and we share this information with Grab to expedite assistance,” said Perpe Mahinay Disoacido Jr. of Grab Ugnayan Advocates, a network of Grab delivery-partners.
MOVE IT riders also showed a strong sense of community spirit. “We are grateful to MOVE IT and Grab for the support they are extending to our community. We also salute every rider who chose to stop working for a day to help fellow riders affected by the storm. The spirit of bayanihan is alive and well in both MOVE IT and Grab,” said Aguinaldo Larioso, a community leader among MOVE IT riders.
