As we usher in 2025, Honda, through its Honda Foundation, Inc. (HFI) and Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI), operating the Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC), has entered into a significant memorandum of agreement with Tamang Ride PH, a road safety advocacy movement organized by A Child’s Trust is Ours to Nurture (ACTION), Incorporated. The Tamang Ride PH movement, set to launch in May 2025, will create a platform for customers to voice their concerns on road safety and encourage awareness through their active participation. The focus will be on promoting safe driving and riding practices for children and beginners, building on ACTION’s long-standing advocacy to help Filipino communities, especially the underprivileged, through collaborations with institutions like the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
As an industry leader in road safety education, Honda will provide essential riding and driving skills training to Tamang Ride PH, sharing educational materials and information. In addition, Honda donated Php 1 million to support the development of the Tamang Ride App, which will enhance road safety awareness and engagement. This collaboration will also create road safety-related content across Tamang Ride PH’s social media platforms, including educational materials, advocacy campaigns, and events. The initiative will play a crucial role in gathering road crash data, bolstering Honda’s partnership with public agencies like the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to further safety efforts. Ultimately, the goal is to protect children and Filipino families, aligning with Honda’s focus on reaching kids (ages 3-7), teens (ages 13-17), and beginner riders.
In addition to the support from HFI, HPI has committed to full collaboration with ACTION in creating the Tamang Ride Educational Module. Honda will fund Php 980,000 and share its proprietary Kids on Safety and Teen Smart programs, which will form the foundation of the educational module. The HSDC will lead the “Training the Trainers” program and conduct a pilot run later in the year, ensuring that road safety principles are taught effectively to the younger generation and beginners. This partnership exemplifies Honda’s ongoing dedication to fostering a safety-first culture on the roads.
Since its establishment in 2008, the HSDC has been at the forefront of promoting road safety in the Philippines, with its “SAFETY FOR EVERYONE” campaign and the “SAFETY FOR OUR FAMILY” program. The world-class facility in Paranaque City offers a platform for motorcycle riders and automobile drivers to develop the essential skills for safe driving. Through partnerships with both public and private organizations, the HSDC continues to spread road safety awareness. Honda’s global commitment to improving road safety was further reinforced in December 2024 when it announced a multi-year partnership with the UN, aiming to reduce global traffic deaths by 50% by 2030. In the Philippines, the partnership with Tamang Ride PH marks a crucial step toward reducing road crashes and ultimately achieving zero road fatalities by 2050. Guided by its global brand slogan, “The Power of Dreams,” Honda is committed to creating safer communities for every family and future generations.
