Out with the old and in with the new. InDrive, a global mobility and urban services platform, propels Filipinos to move forward with new goals and targets this new year as it launches its service in the Philippines.
The California-based trusted ride-hailing app, which has established its presence around the globe and has set its sights to making its mark in the Philippine market, is offering Filipino commuters easier access to safe, hassle-free and more affordable ride and drivers better income opportunities. inDrive secured last December its accreditation as a Transport Network Company (TNC) from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), enabling it to officially offer ride-hailing services in the Philippines.
With the post-holiday rush in full swing as people return to the city for work or school, road works and changes on the local public transport system making daily mobility a challenge for many, inDrive seeks to provide a viable solution and redefine the local ride-hailing market. Spurred by its “people-driven” principle, the company provides users with increased transparency and choices through its unique peer-to-peer model and service offerings.
Commuter-friendly, safe and reliable ride for Filipinos
One of inDrive’s service highlights is affordability. inDrive hopes to provide passengers with fair rates, regardless of the weather, whether within the city, or even during heavy traffic. inDrive empowers both passengers and drivers by providing them with the freedom to choose rides or orders based on their individual requirements and preferences. This unique approach enables direct communication between the passenger and driver to foster a sense of transparency and flexibility. This method streamlines the process, enhancing the overall experience for both passengers and drivers.
inDrive prioritizes passenger safety. inDrive provides passengers with a list of available drivers upon confirmation of a ride request. They can check the drivers’ profiles, which contain the driver’s rating, vehicle model, ride history and estimated time of arrival, and based on these information, select the driver.
For added security and in case of an emergency, passengers and drivers can tap the safety button —a shield on the main screen —to call for the police or an ambulance. Furthermore, they can share the details of their ride such as the route they are taking, the driver and vehicle info, and real-time trip status with their friends or family.
Better drive for Filipino drivers
inDrive benefits not only the passengers but also its drivers.
Like the passengers, drivers also have the freedom to accept, or even ignore passenger requests, all without receiving a penalty. Once a passenger books a ride, the driver will receive details about the request, pick-up point and destination. This allows drivers to make an informed decision if the ride request would meet their income goal, giving them greater control and transparency. During the initial launch phase, the app does not charge drivers service fees for accepting rides. This is another way of enabling drivers to generate better income through inDrive. Moreover, through this, inDrive hopes to open more job opportunities for drivers and those seeking employment.
As with passengers, inDrive is designed with the drivers’ safety in mind. Drivers also have access to a passenger’s profile and ratings. Drivers can share ride details and real-time trip status with their contacts and add the contact details of someone they trust in the app anytime.
inDrive encourages both driver and passenger to rate each other at the end of the ride. If a driver or passenger no longer wants to ride with the other person again, they can give a 1 star rating and tap the Don’t Show My Requests button to prevent the other party from seeing requests or offers in the future.
Starting the year right
inDrive is currently operating in more than 700 cities across over 46 countries and is the second-most downloaded mobility app. In Southeast Asia, inDrive’s services are already being offered in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos.
In the Philippines, inDrive will initially offer its services in five cities: Baguio, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, Butuan and Bacolod.
Last December, inDrive focused on driver recruitment and ran a driver registration campaign in active cities. Drivers who were able to register with the platform received a fuel voucher worth US$10 or Php500.
inDrive is soon to activate its services in Metro Manila this first quarter of 2024. Prior to its official Metro Manila launch, the inDrive app is now available for download online and passengers can already explore and use the services while inDrive continues to beef up its roster of drivers in the city.
“This is an exciting year for inDrive as we officially launch our operations in the Philippines. Filipinos being hardworking, they are constantly on the move. With mobility presenting some challenges, we at inDrive seek to provide a solution that will benefit not just the Filipino riding public but drivers as well. We hope that with our reliable ride-hailing service and fair pricing, we can bring our commuters to their destinations and goals, at the same time help our drivers secure better income for their families, all toward accomplishing their goals this 2024,” said Roman Ermoshin, director APAC at inDrive.
