In a significant move towards enhancing road safety and driver competence, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) have formalized a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). The agreement aims to accredit the MMDA Motorcycle Riding Academy (MRA) and its facilities as Practical Driving Examination Centers (PDEC).
Under this agreement, the MMDA MRA is tasked with conducting various motorcycle maneuvers, including the serpentine maneuver, left turn and stop in the box, cone weave and U-turn, as well as acceleration and sudden braking. These maneuvers are crucial for assessing and enhancing the skills of motorcycle riders.
Moreover, there will be an interconnection between the MMDA MRA and the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS), facilitating seamless data sharing and coordination between the two agencies. Additionally, the LTO will appoint a driver’s skills rater who will oversee the practical driving examination process.
The MMDA emphasizes that the training provided by the MRA will remain free of charge. The MMDA MRA facility is conveniently located at Julia Vargas Avenue, corner Meralco Avenue in Pasig City.
The MMDA MRA is committed to promoting road safety by offering both theoretical and practical training to motorcycle riders. One of its key objectives is to reduce the number of motorcycle-related accidents on the roads.
This collaboration between the MMDA and the LTO underscores their joint commitment to improving road safety and ensuring the competence of motorcycle riders. Through structured training programs and standardized examinations, they aim to create safer road environments for all motorists.
