MPT South anticipates a 30% increase in traffic by the end of 2025, with daily motorists expected to exceed 340,000, up from the current 259,815. This surge will be driven by the completion of key segments of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) and CAVITEX C5 Link, including the CALAX Governor’s Drive, Open Canal, and Kawit Interchanges, as well as the C5 Link Segment 3B, which will connect the Sucat Interchange to the C5 Link Flyover Extension from SLEX-Taguig to E. Rodriguez. The ongoing construction of the CAVITEX-CALAX Link, which will seamlessly integrate these two toll roads, aims to improve connectivity and provide a more convenient route for motorists.
These projects, set to be operational before the end of 2025, will expand MPT South’s total road network to 67 km, significantly enhancing travel time and accessibility in Southern Luzon. The new segments are expected to attract more motorists to the network, improving the flow of traffic and benefiting both commuters and businesses. MPT South President and General Manager, Raul L. Ignacio, emphasized that these infrastructure developments will not only offer a smoother driving experience but also contribute to the region’s economic growth by improving connectivity between industrial and commercial hubs.
To support the construction and maintenance of these projects, MPT South is allocating Php14 billion in capital expenditures (CAPEX) for 2025. Ignacio acknowledged challenges such as right-of-way issues and typhoon disruptions but reassured that efforts are being made to meet the project deadlines. Once completed, the enhanced expressway network is expected to reduce travel time, lower fuel consumption, and cut vehicle emissions, further contributing to regional economic growth and a better quality of life for Filipinos.
