As part of its 30-year Petron Lakbay Alalay motorist assistance program, the country’s leading oil company will be undertaking its Lakbay Undas activities from October 28 to November 1, 2016, at designated Petron service stations along major thoroughfares. Petron employee-volunteers will be providing roadside assistance at Petron service stations that serve as motorists’ pit stops on their journey and visit to the cemeteries during this travel season.
Motorists may avail of free safety checks from automobile partners to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy. There will also be free medical assistance and even a free 15-minute massage to ease travel fatigue. Food and lifestyle partners will provide product sampling and other fun activities.
As part of its road safety advocacy, motorists will be invited to participate in the stickering campaign, and experience how seatbelts prevent crash injuries through the seatbelt simulator. Fatal Vision goggles also let participants experience the adverse effects of drunk driving.
Now on its 30th year, Petron Lakbay Alalay is the longest-running motorist assistance program, and is manned by Petron employees who volunteer to serve so other people can enjoy safe and hassle-free travel during the holidays.
As part of its continuing efforts to provide community service, Petron recently partnered with the Philippine National Police to launch the Lakbay Ligtas program. Aimed at enhancing safety and security of communities, Petron stations have been transformed into police visibility points. Police officers man the Lakbay Ligtas outposts in Petron stations which, in addition to promoting safer communities through increased police presence, are also utilized for information-dissemination on crime prevention. The program supports the government’s Oplan Lambat Sibat which integrates the use of checkpoints, mobile and beat patrols to prevent the rise of criminality. During calamities, the Ligtas Lakbay outposts at Petron stations are also used as drop off points for donations. Currently, about 320 Petron service stations nationwide are part of the Ligtas Lakbay program.
