Puregold Partners with Nissan Philippines to Enhance Sustainability Initiatives

Puregold Price Club, Inc. has announced a strategic partnership with Nissan Philippines to bolster its sustainability efforts, marking a significant step in the company’s commitment to environmental responsibility. This June, Puregold will integrate seven Nissan Kicks e-POWER vehicles into its store operations fleet. The Nissan Kicks e-POWER, which utilizes a 100% electric motor-driven system powered by Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) technology, is designed to maximize fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. This move reflects Puregold’s dedication to adopting innovative solutions that contribute to a greener future.

The introduction of the Nissan Kicks e-POWER vehicles is part of Puregold’s broader sustainability strategy. According to Puregold President Ferdinand Vincent Co, the company’s efforts to be more sustainable are central to securing a better future for younger generations and ensuring long-term business success. “We are committed to integrating sustainability across our operations and motivating our customers to join us in these efforts,” Co stated. The partnership with Nissan, a leader in electric vehicle technology, underscores Puregold’s proactive approach to environmental stewardship.

In addition to the new fleet of electric vehicles, Puregold is implementing a range of other sustainability initiatives. The ‘Walang Plastik Grocery Days,’ held every Monday and Wednesday, encourage shoppers to reduce plastic waste by offering incentives for using eco-bags. Puregold is also transitioning all its stores to 100% LED lighting to significantly cut energy consumption. Furthermore, the company is expanding its solar power installations across various locations in Metro Manila and nearby provinces, reinforcing its commitment to renewable energy.

Puregold’s comprehensive sustainability efforts extend beyond energy and waste management. The company is also investing in wastewater treatment facilities that comply with government regulations, along with rainwater catchment and greywater reuse systems to conserve water resources. These initiatives have earned Puregold recognition from Brand Finance as a leader in sustainability among multi-channel retailers. This partnership with Nissan Philippines and the ongoing environmental initiatives position Puregold at the forefront of sustainable business practices in the retail industry.
