Suzuki Philippines Showcases eVX Concept and Jimny Rhino Editions at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show

Suzuki Philippines showcased its vision of future mobility at the 9th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), unveiling the eVX electric concept car and the Jimny 3-Door and 5-Door Rhino Editions, each embodying Suzuki’s drive toward sustainable and advanced mobility solutions. Held at the World Trade Center Manila, Suzuki’s exhibit attracted attention for its unique blend of innovation, off-road capability, and commitment to eco-friendly transport.

In his address, Mr. Norihide Takei, Director and General Manager of Suzuki Philippines’ Automobile Division, emphasized Suzuki’s approach to sustainable transportation. “Suzuki aims to create mobility solutions that meet today’s needs while anticipating tomorrow’s challenges,” Mr. Takei stated. He highlighted Suzuki’s comprehensive approach to environmental responsibility, which extends beyond electric vehicles, focusing on diverse pathways to achieve carbon neutrality.

eVX Concept: A Vision of Electric Mobility


The eVX electric concept car made a powerful impression, capturing Suzuki’s commitment to the future of electric mobility. Designed as an ‘Emotional Versatile Cruiser,’ the eVX has an upright posture, horizontal hood, and high ground clearance, exuding the powerful stance typical of Suzuki SUVs. Featuring LED light accents and a spacious cabin, it rides on a dedicated EV platform equipped with advanced battery technology, promising both safety and comfort. With a range of up to 550km (MIDC), the eVX concept is set for a 2025 market debut, aiming to combine Suzuki’s off-road legacy with next-generation electric mobility.

Jimny Rhino Editions: Enhanced Off-Roading Appeal


The crowd-pleasing Jimny Rhino Editions were also a highlight, offering rugged features designed to boost the model’s off-road capability. Both the 3-Door and 5-Door Rhino Editions sport a distinctive front grille, under-garnish details, mud flaps, and Rhino decals, adding to the Jimny’s adventurous character. Equipped with Suzuki’s reliable 1.5-liter gasoline engine, they deliver 120 PS and 130 Nm of torque with either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.

Hybrid Power Models: XL7 Hybrid Black Upgrade and Ertiga Hybrid


Suzuki also displayed its commitment to carbon reduction with the XL7 Hybrid Black Upgrade and the Ertiga Hybrid. The XL7 Hybrid features a new black grille, alloy wheels, and added accessories, showcasing both eco-consciousness and refined design. Meanwhile, the Ertiga Hybrid boasts a fresh radiator grille design, sports emblems, and protective features, providing a combination of style, durability, and eco-friendliness.

S-Presso Expedition Kit: Bold Compact Innovation


The S-Presso made a statement with its Expedition Kit, which includes a front upper grille garnish, side cladding, and wheel arc cladding, transforming the compact hatchback into a bold, adventure-ready vehicle. This kit embodies Suzuki’s approach to making compact vehicles both stylish and functional, proving that even small cars can stand out in a big way.

Technological Partnerships and Autonomous Advancements


Mr. Takei also highlighted Suzuki’s technological collaborations, particularly with TIER IV, an open-source autonomous driving software leader, to advance autonomous vehicle technology. This partnership aims to create safer and more efficient roads, positioning Suzuki at the forefront of this developing technology. Additionally, Suzuki’s contribution to the HAKUTO-R lunar exploration program and its work on the SkyDrive flying car project demonstrate Suzuki’s dedication to advancing transport solutions across various fields.

Agricultural Robotics and Innovation


Finally, Suzuki’s partnership with M2 Labo in developing the Mobile Mover robot for agricultural purposes illustrates its commitment to applying mobility technology beyond the automotive sector. This agricultural robot underscores Suzuki’s ability to drive innovation across diverse industries, from space exploration to urban air mobility and even agriculture, showing the far-reaching potential of its technological expertise.
