Suzuki’s Thrilling Motorcycle Adventure Experience

Suzuki Philippines’ Motorcycle Division took its media, vloggers, dealer partners and select club members on an adventure day on June 22-23, 2023 at San Mateo Rizal to experience its latest motorcycles under the V-STROM and the GSX lineage. The event commenced with the V-STROM 250 SX Adventure Test Ride followed by the Power of 800 Launch.

Suzuki V-STROM 250 SX Adventure Test Ride

Further to the recent launch of the V-STROM 250 SX, the brand hosted a media and vloggers test ride to have them experience this lightweight versatile Master of Adventure in actual journey to highlight its powerful engine, lightweight design and signature eye- catching looks. The route was a 13km journey at the heart of San Mateo Rizal from Timberland Highlands Resort to Camp Sandugo and back which features various road conditions, paved and unpaved, twisties, uphill, downhill and off-road trails.

This experience further underscored the friendliness of the Suzuki V-STROM 250 SX’s quick and easy handling characteristic thanks to its MotoGP engine-inspired design which results to overall weight reduction. This is powered by the reliable Suzuki Eco Performance, Fuel Injected (SEP FI) 250cc, 4 stroke, single cylinder, 4 valve, Single Overhead Cam engine that saves fuel yet offers brisk, smooth performance, making it an excellent partner for various kinds of riding.

The Dual Channel Antilock Brake System (ABS) monitors front and rear wheel speeds individually matching the stopping power to available traction providing more confidence and control especially during the off road trail ride. It has a large, outer diameter of 310mm, a single front disc brake with axial master cylinder and a 240mm outer diameter, rear disc brake that provides ample braking power.

The V-STROM 250 SX’s ruggedly compact and slim design makes it more stable which provides confidence when handling bike at lower speeds, which allows ease in parking. It also gives a comfortable riding position that seats high, giving a clear view of the road ahead and better visibility with a highly functional windscreen that shields well.
Our participants also enjoyed the full line-up of safety and convenient features of the V- STROM 250 SX which made their ride more enjoyable. The Knuckle Covers provides additional comfort and safety on the rider’s hands while the Engine Under Cowling protects the chassis.

The Large Diameter Front Fork features a generous 120mm of suspension stroke to absorb bumps keeping the ride smooth with 7-step adjustable rear suspension to suit the needs of each ride.

Signature to the V-STROM range, 250 SX promises a stable and comfortable ride every time. With its 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear Spoke Cast Aluminum Wheels with a semi block style pattern, it offers stability and excellent control over various kinds of road surfaces. It also has high ground clearance which adds confidence while traversing road obstacles.

The V-STROM 250 SX sports the signature beak-like design, inspired by the legendary DR- Z racer and DR-BIG off-road models that was brought back and remade specifically for the V-STROM lineage and a Full Digital Inverted Instrument Panel for better visibility that provides comprehensive ride information.

Suzuki Philippines takes pride in the V-STROM 250 SX being the only 250cc touring motorcycle in the country making it a unique model. It is the perfect ride for those who want to upgrade from their 150cc motorcycles for a more adventure feel bike. The V- STROM 250 SX is priced at Php 229,000 and is available in Champion Yellow and Glass Sparkle Black.

Suzuki Power of 800 Launch

Completing the Suzuki Adventure Day, Suzuki launched its much-awaited brand-new 800cc Big Bikes. These are the the V-STROM 800DE and the street sport bike – GSX-8S. The V-STROM 800DE and the GSX-8S were developed as fresh 800cc class models with lightweight and maneuverable features for a wide range of riders. Both models offer optimized balance of ridability required both in daily commuting and in touring powered by Suzuki’s new parallel twin DOHC engine.

The unveiling was held in the evening of June 22 at the Grand Ballroom of Timberland Highlands Resort followed by a Test Ride the following morning.

Birth of a New Engine

The newly developed 776cm3 parallel twin engine suppresses vibration for smooth operation and a compact, lightweight engine design by adopting the Suzuki Cross Balancer. Suzuki has created a new biaxial primary balancer that is the first on a production motorcycle, to position its two balancers at 90° to the crankshaft. It is a mechanism that is patented to Suzuki.

The V-STROM 800 DE: Adventure is its Purpose

The new V-STROM 800DE was born to bring a sense of adventure and riding pleasure into your every day, on every outing. Be it a just a simple ride around the town or a long relaxing trip, the all-round capabilities of the V-STROM 800DE are engineered to faithfully respond to your command and deliver a satisfying riding experience wherever you decide to go.

The V-STROM 800DE was developed to serve the customer’s adventure spirit expected to deliver best performance in all fields from touring to daily commuting. The Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S) electronic control system for various riding conditions is adopted with the G (gravel) mode in the traction control system, and cancellable ABS for the rear brake, so riders can control riding over gravel roads according to their preferences. Adjustable front and rear suspensions, large diameter 21-inch front wheels and semi-block pattern tires on the front and rear are also applied.

Every aspect of the chassis is designed to promote great handling and control in a wide range of real-world riding conditions, and to place priority on comfort and minimizing fatigue on long rides, even when carrying a passenger and loaded with gear. The chassis geometry features a long wheelbase, long rake, tall ground clearance and a wide handlebar grip to provide maximum stability and controllability when riding on unpaved surfaces, and to offer a riding position that effectively distributes weight to the front and rear.

While carrying on the tradition of the V-STROM series, the lines of the body work are made sharper with bold accent color parts at the tip of the front cowling and below the fuel tank.

The V-STROM 800 DE is available in three colors – Champion Yellow, Glass Matte Metallic Gray and Glass Sparkle Black at an SRP of 699,000 and is an addition to the V-STROM Master of Adventure lineage – V-STROM 1050 DE, V-STROM 650 XT and V-STROM 250 SX.

The chassis was carefully engineered to be slim, compact, lightweight, highly agile, and ideally suited to support its high-performance parallel twin engine. The core structure of the chassis layout starts with a strong and highly rigid frame designed for the GSX-8S. Its exposed seat rails provide solid support with lightweight aluminum swing arm, designed exclusively for the GSX-8S optimized to perform on the street with low seat height suitable for most riders.

The GSX-8S is available in three colors – Pearl Cosmic Blue, Pearl Tech White and Metallic Matte Black and at an SRP of 585,000. The GSX-8S is an addition to Suzuki’s street sport motorcycles – GSX-S750 and GSX-S1000.
