Timeless Favorites: Top Five Colors Preferred by Ford Ranger and Everest Buyers

Ford has come a long way since Henry Ford famously told customers they could buy their Model T in any color they wanted, as long as it was black.

Today, there are more than 20 paint color options available for the Ranger and 10 paint color options for the Everest across the Ford International Markets Group (IMG), which includes Australia, New Zealand, ASEAN, North and South Africa, and Middle East markets. With such a variety of color options, car buyers have become more adventurous in selecting their preferred color for their vehicle. Krista Lindegger, color and materials designer at Ford Australia, states, “Color adds personality to the vehicle and enhances the surface design.”

Despite the wide range of choices, Ranger and Everest buyers in the region tend to stick to classic colors.

According to sales data from Ford IMG, more than 35% of all Rangers sold in the last six months were in shades of white (Arctic White at 26.2% and Frozen White at 10.9%). Meteor Grey follows in a distant second (12.6%), with Absolute Black (9.7%) and Aluminium Metallic (7.6%) rounding out the top five.

White is also the most popular color for the Everest, with Snow Flake White (20.2%) and Arctic White (14.2%) comprising 34% of the sales mix across Ford IMG. Absolute Black (17.9%) and Meteor Grey (17.7%) are close contenders, with Aluminium Metallic (10.8%) in fifth place.

“White is associated with cleanliness and purity, and we know that, anecdotally, white cars tend to hide scratches better than other colors and don’t show dust as easily,” adds Lindegger.
