Top MOVE IT Riders Honored at MOVE IT Day 2024

MOVE IT celebrated the exceptional contributions of its 16 top-performing rider-partners during the MOVE IT Day 2024 event held at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City. These riders, named this year’s Papugay Awardees, were recognized for their dedication, resilience, and commitment to providing excellent service as moto-taxi drivers.

The Papugay Awards ceremony was the highlight of the annual year-end celebration, which brought together thousands of rider-partners and their families. The event was filled with fun activities, including photo booths, games, raffles, comedy shows, a talent competition, a rock concert, and even free motorcycle maintenance services. MOVE IT Day serves as a way for the company to show its appreciation to its rider-partners, while the Papugay Awards specifically honor those who embody MOVE IT’s core values of integrity, respect, and commitment to safety and service quality.

MOVE IT General Manager Wayne Jacinto led the festivities and extended heartfelt gratitude to the rider-partners, whose dedication makes daily commuting easier and safer for thousands of Filipinos. He emphasized that the success of the company and the moto-taxi industry relies on the unwavering efforts of these riders.

Papugay Awardees Merlani Lacson, Cyrus Panopio, Merry Ann Paz, and  Benjie Boladas Bechayda share how their earnings as moto-taxi service providers empower them to achieve their aspirations in life.

Among the awardees was Cyrus Panopio, a 38-year-old rider who holds the prestigious “Alamat” status, the highest tier for MOVE IT riders. Panopio, who balances his work as a rider with running a small business and caring for his family, credits his MOVE IT earnings with providing financial stability and supporting his children’s education. His story inspired other riders to maximize the opportunities offered by the platform.

Another honoree, Benjie Boladas Bechayda, 33, shared how he left his job as a security guard to become a full-time MOVE IT rider. Boladas now earns double what he made in his previous job, allowing him to spend more time with his family and focus on their future, including plans to build or buy a house.

Merry Ann Paz, a 29-year-old single mother, was also celebrated for her resilience. Initially hesitant to join the moto-taxi industry due to safety concerns, Paz found reassurance in MOVE IT’s training and safety features. Her earnings from the platform have enabled her to support her children and manage household expenses.

Lastly, former ambulance driver Merlani Lacson, 45, shared how becoming a MOVE IT rider fulfilled her long-time dream of riding motorcycles. Lacson, now a widow, uses the income and flexible work hours to provide for her teenage children and help one of her sons pursue an IT degree.

This celebration highlighted the strong relationship between MOVE IT and its rider-partners, showcasing how the platform is helping to uplift lives and improve livelihood opportunities for Filipino commuters.
