VinFast’s Electrifying Expansion: Pioneering a Greener Future from Hai Phong to Manila

Vietnam is home to VinFast, a rising star in the global electric vehicle (EV) industry. Launched locally in the Philippines in late May, VinFast aims to revolutionize transportation in the archipelago with its stylish and modern electric cars and SUVs.

A Rising Star

Founded by Pham Nhat Vuong, Vietnam’s first billionaire, VinFast emerged in 2017 under Vingroup. Vuong envisioned VinFast as a technological pioneer and national pride, achieving a remarkable feat by inaugurating a state-of-the-art factory and developing its first car models in just 21 months. The Hai Phong factory, equipped with over 1,400 robots and 90% automation, produces 250,000 vehicles annually, fueling VinFast’s global expansion.

A Landmark Decision

In 2021, VinFast transitioned to fully electric vehicles (EVs) to align with global trends and sustainability. The factory’s design allows for seamless production shifts, crucial for their all-electric transition. VinFast’s EV models, like the VF e34, VF 8, and VF 9, offer green alternatives without compromising performance or style. The company is also investing in a comprehensive charging infrastructure and advancing battery technology.

A Global Journey

VinFast’s success in Vietnam, the U.S., and Canada paves the way for its Southeast Asian expansion. The Philippines, identified as a key market, offers potential for EV adoption. VinFast’s affordable and accessible EVs aim to break barriers hindering EV adoption.

With its proven track record and growing global footprint, VinFast is set to impact the Philippine automotive landscape, driving the shift towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
