Yamaha Motor Philippines has revealed the lineup for its racing teams set to compete in the 2024 season, under the banner of “Champions Rising: Racing Beyond Limits.” This event signifies Yamaha’s ongoing commitment to nurturing its riders with a clear goal: to achieve victory and further elevate motorsports in the Philippines. Recognizing the challenges ahead, Yamaha has upgraded its racing program this season to better develop its riders and machines for top-level competition. The Philippine racing team is divided into two categories: Circuit and Off-Road.
Leading the Circuit Racing Team is McKinley Kyle Paz, known as ‘The Wonderboy,’ fresh from a three-year stint in the FIM JRGP European Championship. Returning to the Asia Road Racing Championship, where he previously clinched the 2019 UB150 Championship, Paz aims to secure the championship in the SS600 category racing under the Yamaha Tekhne ASEAN Team.
In a bid to reclaim the UB150 title for the Philippines are “Rocketboy” April King Mascardo and “The Flash” Gian Carlo Mauricio. Entering their third year of competition, both riders, representing UMA MMR Yamaha Philippine Racing Team, are determined to elevate their performance and seek redemption.
Yamaha also announced a partnership with TWMR (Two Wheels Motor Racing), the official race promoters and rights holders of the ARRC, enabling live streaming of the SS600 and UB150 categories on the Yamaha Philippines Facebook page.
Dubbed “The Lion,” Bornok Mangosong achieved the rare Triple Crown feat, being named Rider of the Year for three consecutive years. Dominating Off-Road racing, Mangosong, along with ‘The Princess of Philippine Motocross” Pia Gabriel, continues to represent the country both domestically and internationally. Gabriel, a two-time Female Rider of the Year, embodies inspiration for female riders and aims for further achievements.
Looking ahead, Yamaha Philippines Racing Team anticipates the addition of more riders to its roster. Young talents such as Moy Reyes, Zain Kaizzer Doblada, and Mytchell Joshua Ngo, who qualified for the R3 bLU cRU Asia-Pacific Championship, are vying to qualify for the world championship in 2025.
Additionally, Yamaha introduced its Satellite Teams: The 4S1M Yamaha Evo Racing Team, led by “The Hitman” J.E. Inguito, competes in the UB150 category of the ARRC. The SEC Yamaha Racing Team, comprising JD Purino, Andrei Reyes, and Bethany Tolentino, continues to participate in national competitions.
The event celebrated Yamaha Racing’s vision of developing local talent and providing them with the opportunity to become champions. From grassroots programs to global campaigns, Yamaha cultivates racing passion, molding riders into champions through adversity and triumph. The journey of Yamaha Racing in the Philippines continues, with the promise of greater races ahead.
